In search of sustainable yields
The current economic environment is a challenging one for investors. Global economic growth is projected to be just 3.1% in 2016, rising only slightly to 3.4% in 2017, according to the International Monetary Fund's latest World Economic Outlook. Meanwhile low inflation and low interest rates persist in many markets, making sustainable yields hard to come by.
EM Corporate Debt - Coming into their own
Emerging market (EM) corporate bonds, rare issuers until a decade ago, have now firmly become part of the investment landscape. Rising debt-to-GDP ratios within EM private sectors, along with the rapid growth in the issuance volumes of EM corporate bonds since the financial crisis, have caused several commentators to suggest that this growth may threaten economic stability in EM.
