Job Function: Finance

To assist Head of Finance/CFO by providing internal and external financial reporting in line with Hong Kong business unit, Group and legal entity requirements.

The jobholder will have a key role in delivering all reporting requirements, and ensuring all financial controls are appropriately maintained and managed. 

The jobholder will be the Finance team lead for IFRS17 and IFRS9 project team, acting as the subject matter expert of Finance team and assist Head of Finance/CFO to manage project to ensure successful implementation. 

Financial reporting:

• Responsible for the issuance of regulatory and IFRS financial reports and manage monthly and annual account closing.
• Deliver half yearly and annual management report to support external disclosures
• Prepare or review account reconciliation e.g. bank reconciliations
• Analyze the financial statements and understand the drivers of business performances.
• Review and produce regulatory reports e.g. Insurance Authority quarterly long term business returns to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Audit:

• manage the delivery of annual statutory account audit and work closing with the external auditor
• handle Group internal audit, review and ensure appropriate internal controls are in place so that our risks are appropriately managed.

Finance Project:

• Handle various finance related projects as assigned, including but not limited to projects on IFRS 17, IFRS 9, accounting system, fund accounting system and other process improvement.
• Work closely with various stakeholders, IT team, project members and external consultant/suppliers on user requirements, feasibility study, delivery and user acceptance test.
• Escalate project issues and recommend solutions to ensure agreed project timelines, deliverables and benefits are achieved on time and within budget.
• Provide training, develop user manual, procedures to finance staff throughout the change process.
• Be the finance subject matter expert in IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 projects, including
  • Custodian of end-to-end project implementation from design, development, implementation, training, communications, and including liaison with external party service providers to ensure project is delivered in accordance with the agreed scope of work, timelines and milestones;
  • Develop new IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 accounting logic, the accounting posting rules and Chart of Accounts;
  • Develop accounting process implication; design the financial closing reporting processes;
  • Assist in producing IFRS17 technical papers and accounting policy documents for Project Sponsors’ review and for the Steering Committee approval;
  • Assist in building the management information and financial analytical framework on IFRS 17 and IFRS 9;
  • Participate in data and system infrastructure design for IFRS 17;
  • Design and/or revamp relevant reporting control under the standards;
  • Assist the Head of Finance/CFO and prepare presentations/materials to the Executive Management Team on the progress of project delivery.

Tax: 

• manage the annual tax filing and handle inquiries from with the Inland Revenue Department
• Review cash flow projection e.g. daily cash ins and outs to ensure daily monitoring cash position
• Identify and drive through changes in finance processes to improve controls and efficiency
• Manage the relationship with key stakeholders both internally such as auditor and externally such as regulator.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and handle inquiries

• Qualified Accountant
• University graduate required
• At least 8-10 years of relevant working experiences in finance and accounting.
• Good time management
• Good understanding and interpretation of insurance company financial statements.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge in Oracle is an advantage.
• Able to work independently, under pressures and meeting deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills with an ability to distil complex technical information into clear simple messages
• High level of analytical skills
