Senior Actuarial Manager – Pricing & Commercial

Purpose

To lead the pricing and commercial agenda for the Hong Kong business as part of the Actuarial department, ensure the Company’s product portfolio remains competitive within pricing and in line with Company’s strategy. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Product Officer in designing, driving and promoting the commercial agenda for the business, ensure objectives are delivered in accordance with the agreed strategy, business plan and operational capability.
  • Lead the robust process of pricing and profitability testing for new and existing propositions per the company’s Risk Appetite.
  • Produce high quality of Risk Assessment and Profitability Reports for all proposition developments and campaigns and ensure they are in compliance with the related Group and local policies including specific focus on customer risks and impact.
  • Review and propose the necessity of reinsurance arrangement in product development and negotiate with reinsurers for the best commercial terms.
  • Challenge, influence and provide feedback to on the wider market and proposition strategy and suggestions
  • Partner with Proposition team and provide market insights and commercial consideration when driving Proposition Reviews per the Proposition Review Plan.
  • Take ownership on the development and maintenance of Pricing Tools and other End User Applications, ensuring they are effective and fit for purpose.
  • Lead the production, maintenance and monitoring of policy concessions in accordance with the Concession Policy.
  • Recommend pricing assumptions, conduct experience studies and necessary risk mitigation measures.
  • Provide sound actuarial recommendation, solutions and justification on company projects and day-to-day operational issues and enquiries
  • Be the responsible person for any technical or actuarial matters related to commercial and pricing, including support to the HK ERMC on related matters
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues (where required) on Pricing and Commercial matters.

 

Qualifications / Experience / Requirements

  • Qualified Actuary
  • University degree in an actuarial or other relevant discipline
  • At least 8 years of relevant actuarial experience in pricing and proposition discipline
  • Good knowledge of products, markets, regulation and legislative requirements in insurance industry
  • Excellent stakeholder management capability
  • Power user of spreadsheets with VBA programming, good understanding of actuarial modelling and software
  • Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Strong presentation, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to process, analyse information and provide simple actuarial judgment and advice
